Marana is the one town in the metro with a working landfill inside its limits. That does not make it free to use, and it does not make the hazardous-waste rules any different.
Junk removal in Marana: the landfill is close, but check before you drive out
The WM Marana Regional Landfill sits at 14508 W. Avra Valley Road, open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to noon, closed Sundays. WM lists what it takes — municipal solid waste, construction and demolition debris, yard waste, treated wood, and inert material such as concrete, sand, rock and asphalt — and what it does not: hazardous waste. What WM’s page does not publish is a gate fee for a homeowner with a pickup, or whether it wants one at all, so call the site before you load the truck. In past years the Town of Marana has announced free public access days at the landfill; the Town’s calendar is the place to check whether one is coming.
A hauler working Marana will price a load the same way as anywhere else — by the truck, $150 to $900 across the published ranges — and may tip it at Avra Valley Road or at Los Reales depending on the material and the day. Ask which, and ask for the receipt.
The Town’s recycle event covers the electronics and the paint, once a year
Marana runs a spring recycle event through its Community and Neighborhood Services department. The 2025 edition, on a Saturday in March at Coyote Trail Elementary on N. Silverbell Road, took working and non-working electronics, hard drives for destruction, up to five boxes of documents for on-site shredding, and latex, water-based and oil-based paint — but not empty or dried cans, not glass containers, and not large appliances. For the other eleven months, the outlet is the city’s Household Hazardous Waste drop-off at Los Reales, Thursday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., $15 a visit with proof of a Marana address.
That split is worth knowing when a garage is being cleared: if the event is a few weeks out, the box of old phones and the shelf of paint can wait for it; the propane cylinder, the car battery and the pool chemicals cannot, and they go to Los Reales.

There is no Brush and Bulky in Marana — that is a City of Tucson program. Any bulky pickup comes through the trash hauler you or your homeowner association pay, on that contract’s terms, and the terms vary from subdivision to subdivision. Meanwhile the Town Code’s property-maintenance chapter, which the Town summarizes on its Know the Code page, requires that trash and unsightly items not accumulate on a lot and that garbage be bagged before it goes in the can. A pile staged in the driveway for a pickup that is three weeks away can draw a code complaint faster than it draws a truck. A hauler who loads from the garage in one visit avoids the question.
Tires: the county site is on Ina Road, and it is not free
Pima County’s waste tire collection site is at 5301 W. Ina Road, west of I-10 at the closed Ina Road landfill — on Marana’s side of the metro. It is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and charges $30 a ton with a $15 minimum for standard on-road tires, $150 a ton for off-road tires, and $75 extra per load for tires still on rims. Los Reales charges $5 per passenger tire, ten per load. Either way, take them off the rims first.

Can I take a pickup load to the Marana Regional Landfill?
Call first. WM publishes the hours — weekdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday until noon — and the materials it accepts, but not a residential gate fee or a public self-haul policy. The Town has announced free public access days there in past years; check the Town calendar for the next one.
Does Marana have a bulk trash day?
Not a town-wide one. Tucson’s Brush and Bulky does not run in Marana. Bulky pickup, if you have it, comes from the trash contract you or your HOA hold, on its schedule and limits.
