Junk Removal services in Tucson, AZ

Every service below is performed by a local company we match you with, you get their name first.

Most calls to (520) 462-1120 are one of the jobs below. Each has its own page with what the work involves, what it typically costs in Tucson, and what to have ready. If the job is not obviously one of them, describe it on the call and the contractor tells you which it is, and whether it is worth a truck at all.

Junk Removal & Hauling

A truck, two people and the landfill fee. That is what you are buying, and knowing the price of the third part tells you what the first two are worth.

Whether you call it having junk hauled off, hauled away or picked up, the price is built the same way. Almost every hauler prices by volume: the share of the truck your load fills, quoted in quarters or eighths.

You describe the pile and send photos. How many items, where they sit in the house, stairs or no stairs, and anything the crew should know about, like a refrigerator or a stack of paint cans. The hauler quotes a fraction of the truck.

What counts as a full truck? It depends on the truck. The big franchises run boxes of roughly 400 cubic feet that hold about two tons; a local hauler may run a dump trailer or a stake bed with a different capacity. Ask for the cubic yards or the dimensions before you compare a full-load price from one company with another. Ten cubic yards: the Brush and Bulky limit — is about ten washing machines stacked together.

Can the hauler take everything in one trip? Usually for a garage or a room; rarely for a whole house. A second trip is priced as a second load, so ask whether the quote is for the job or for the truck. If it is for the truck, ask how many trucks the hauler thinks the job is, and get that number in writing.

Furniture & Appliance Removal

A refrigerator is the one item on this page with a federal rule attached. Everything else is a question of who carries it and whether anyone wants it.

Los Reales charges $20 for every appliance designed to use refrigerant — refrigerators, chest freezers, window units, dehumidifiers.

Several Tucson organizations will collect a working appliance for nothing, which turns a $20 landfill fee plus haul charge into a receipt for your taxes. Habitat for Humanity Tucson’s HabiStore at 935 W.

Why does removing a refrigerator cost more than a couch? Because Los Reales charges $20 per refrigerant appliance and federal Section 608 rules require the refrigerant to be recovered before the unit is scrapped, which the landfill has to arrange. The hauler pays the fee at the gate and passes it through. A couch has no such fee and is often lighter.

Can I just put a fridge out for Brush and Bulky? Inside the Tucson city limits, yes — appliances are on the accepted list, and the city handles the refrigerant on its side. Set it out by 6 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week, no more than two weeks ahead, and consider removing or securing the door. Outside the city there is no Brush and Bulky, so it is a hauler, your trash contract’s bulk pickup, or the landfill yourself.

Estate & House Cleanout

A house cleanout is three or four truckloads and about nine decisions. The decisions are the part that goes wrong.

If the house belongs to someone who has died, find out who has the authority to empty it before you book a truck. Until the estate’s personal representative or trustee is established, the contents are the estate’s, and clearing them early is not reversible.

Tucson has more free pickup than most people expect, and it is slower than the truck. HabiStore, the Habitat for Humanity store at 935 W. Grant Road, schedules free pickups of furniture, appliances and building materials in resalable condition. St.

How long does a house cleanout take in Tucson? A single room or a garage is a few hours. A typical two or three bedroom house with a crew is one to two days, with the donation pickups and the hazardous-waste run scheduled around it. Heavy accumulation takes longer because it is slower, not because anyone charges for the circumstances.

Can the hauler take the paint and chemicals from the garage? Not to the landfill — Los Reales refuses hazardous waste. Some haulers will run them to the city’s HHW drop-off for a fee during its Thursday-to-Saturday hours; others will set them aside for you. Agree which before the day. It is free with a city address and $15 for county and town residents.

Construction & Remodel Debris Removal

Debris is the one load where the landfill charges by the ton, not the truck, and where the free city pickup refuses everything.

Household junk is bulky and light, so haulers price it by the space it fills. Tile, drywall, plaster, cabinets full of hinges, old fencing with the posts still in concrete and the concrete itself are dense, and Los Reales prices density: a covered load under 2,000 pounds is $18, and past that the…

Los Reales accepts construction debris and concrete and asphalt, so a mixed load can go there in one trip. Clean inert material — concrete, block, brick, sand, rock, dirt — has cheaper homes.

How much does it cost to haul remodel debris in Tucson? By the published ranges, $300 to $550 for a half-truck load and $600 to $900 for a full one, with dense material at the top because Los Reales charges $38 a ton past the first 2,000 pounds. Ask for the quote to state whether weight overage is passed through, and at what rate.

Will Brush and Bulky take drywall and tile? No. The city lists construction material, concrete, dirt, rock and gravel, and glass and mirrors among the items it will not collect. Lumber up to five feet long and scrap metal up to five feet are accepted, so a small pile of cut-down fence boards can go to the curb inside the city limits; the rest cannot.

Yard Waste & Storm Cleanup

The National Weather Service defines Tucson’s monsoon as June 15 through September 30, and it drops about six inches of rain — more than half the year’s total, with the wind that takes the mesquites down.

The NWS Tucson office names four monsoon hazards: microbursts with gusts over 70 mph, flash flooding at rainfall rates up to four inches an hour, dust storms, and lightning, including dry lightning early in the season.

Los Reales accepts green waste at its normal rates — $18 for a covered load under 2,000 pounds, $2 environmental fee, $10 more if the load is not covered, and a truckload of loose brush will not stay in the truck uncovered anyway. The Catalina Transfer Station on N.

How much does storm debris removal cost in Tucson? Green waste is light, so it is priced by volume — published ranges put a half truck at $300 to $550 and a full truck at $600 to $900. Fence panels, roofing and mud are heavier and may be priced by weight. The landfill fee inside a truck of brush is about $20; the rest is the cutting, loading and hauling.

Will the city pick up storm limbs for free? Inside the city limits, only on your Brush and Bulky week, and only brush cut to five feet and under 24 inches across, up to 10 cubic yards for the household. The schedule is set by service area for the year. If your collection is months away, or you live in Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, Vail, the Foothills or Green Valley, there is no free pickup.

Hot Tub, Shed & Playset Removal

None of these fits through a gate in one piece. The price is the cutting and the carrying, and the truck is almost an afterthought.

A spa in a Tucson backyard is wired to a dedicated circuit with a disconnect somewhere near it, and the first step is to have that circuit safely killed and, ideally, the disconnect and the conduit stub capped by an electrician, not by the hauler, whose trade is lifting.

A metal kit shed comes apart with a drill and a pry bar and goes to the landfill or a scrap yard as flat panels; it is a small load and mostly labor.

How much does hot tub removal cost in Tucson? It is usually quoted as a flat job rather than a truck fraction, because the work is cutting and carrying. Published truck ranges put the equivalent load at roughly a half truck, $300 to $550, and the landfill fee inside that is about $20 to $40. Access: the gate width and the distance to the truck — moves it more than the size of the tub.

Does the hauler disconnect the electrical? He should not, and a careful one will ask you to have an electrician do it first. Spa circuits are hard-wired and the disconnect and conduit need to be made safe, not just switched off. Ask the electrician to cap the stub if the pad is staying.

Garage & Storage Unit Cleanout

A garage is the room where every item the landfill refuses has been quietly collecting for fifteen years. Clearing it is mostly a sorting job.

Walk the shelves before anyone quotes. Paint and stain, thinner, pesticides, pool chlorine and acid, brake fluid and coolant, the half-full propane cylinder, the car battery, the coffee can of old motor oil: Los Reales refuses hazardous waste, waste oil and lead-acid batteries at the gate, and a…

Tires cost $5 each at Los Reales, passenger tires only, ten per load. Inside the city, Brush and Bulky takes up to five auto tires at the curb on your scheduled week. Pima County’s waste tire site at 5301 W. Ina Road, west of I-10, takes tires Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

How much does a garage cleanout cost in Tucson? Published truck-fraction ranges: $150 to $350 for a quarter truck, $300 to $550 for a half, $600 to $900 for a full. A typical one-car garage is a quarter to a half; a packed two-car garage is a half to a full. Refrigerators add about $20 each, and the hazardous items are handled separately.

Where do I take old paint in Tucson? Liquid paint goes to the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off at Los Reales, Thursday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., up to 25 gallons a visit — free for city residents, $15 for everyone else in Pima County with proof of address. Fully dried paint and empty cans can go in the regular trash.

Trash Removal

Three different jobs share this name: setting up weekly collection, clearing a pile the barrel will not take, and emptying a whole property. Only one of them is a hauler’s work, and knowing which you have saves you a call.

City of Tucson Environmental Services collects from single-family homes and multi-family buildings of four units or fewer inside the city limits.

Pima County puts it plainly: if you live outside the City of Tucson limits, you will need to either hire a solid waste hauler to pick up your garbage and recyclables or self-haul to a disposal facility. There is no county curbside route, and there is no county Brush and Bulky.

Same-Day Junk Removal

Same-day is a real thing here, and it is governed by a gate that closes at five. Everything that makes it possible or impossible follows from that one fact.

Los Reales is open Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Sunday. A same-day job has to be quoted, loaded, driven and tipped inside that window, and the drive is to 5300 E. Los Reales Road south of I-10, which from Oro Valley or Marana is a real piece of the afternoon.

People search for emergency junk removal, and the honest answer is that junk removal is rarely an emergency and almost always a deadline.

What every service on this list has in common

The same rules run under all of them. You call or send the form, you describe the job, and the junk removal contractor we refer you to calls you back and gives you their name before anyone comes out. They do the work, they set the price, they carry the responsibility for it, and we are paid a flat monthly fee by them rather than a percentage of your job, so nothing on this page is written to steer you toward a bigger ticket. What no service here includes is us doing the work: Tucson Junk Pickup is a referral service, and the about page says exactly who answers the phone right now.

Not sure which service you need?

Say what you are looking at rather than what you think it is called. A junk removal contractor hears the description and knows the job; the label matters less than the details, and the details are what the price is built from. The cost page puts every service's typical Tucson range side by side, and the how-to-choose guide covers what to ask before anyone comes out.

Junk Removal & Hauling

Mixed household junk by the truckload — priced by how much space it takes, hauled to the city landfill or a donation center the same day where the schedule allows.

Furniture & Appliance Removal

Sofas, mattresses, dressers, washers and refrigerators carried out of the house, with the refrigerant handled the way the landfill and federal rules require.

Estate & House Cleanout

Whole-house clearing after a death, a move to care, or a sale — donations routed first, hazardous items pulled out for the city drop-off, the rest hauled.

Construction & Remodel Debris Removal

Drywall, tile, cabinets, old fencing and concrete from a remodel or a tear-out — the material Brush and Bulky refuses and the landfill weighs by the ton.

Yard Waste & Storm Cleanup

Monsoon limbs, blown-down fence panels, dead cactus and overgrowth cleared after a storm or before a listing, sorted into green waste and everything else.

Hot Tub, Shed & Playset Removal

Spas cut down and carried out, metal and wood sheds taken apart, swing sets and trampolines dismantled — the jobs that are mostly labor, not truck space.

Garage & Storage Unit Cleanout

Garages and storage units cleared in a morning, with the paint, batteries, propane and tires separated out because no truck should take them to the landfill.

Trash Removal

Weekly city collection covers the barrel inside the city limits; outside them Pima County expects you to hire a hauler or self-haul. One-time piles are neither, and are priced by the truck.

Same-Day Junk Removal

The landfill gate closes at 5 p.m. and does not open Sunday — which decides what genuinely fits in a same-day window and what does not.
